| The
foothills of Gargano forms a separate island of the rest from the
biological sense the even one of the "Tavoliere delle Puglie".
The variety of the natural environment is very big: one comes highly
from the coast and with small cliffs, as far as to the mediterrean
pine forests from jaws, up to this moist zones of Lesina, Varano and
Manfredonia. Part from the nature reserve, are also the Tremiti islands.
Only a small part did survived from the millennial forest of Gargano,
that covered the whole foothills previously, the "Foresta Umbra".
A particular mention is worthwhile for the sub forest, for the enormous
variety of wild orchids, (there werecatalogued 65 species), and for
the presence of a group of autochthonous deers. |
